Congratulations to the Girl Scouts who have made this outstanding achievement during the 2010-2011 Membership Year.

Elisa Gonzalez
Elisa Gonzalez of Laredo prepared and delivered bullying prevention programs to children in CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate Association) and to Girl Scout troops, and provided educational resources for parents of the children who attended her programs.  The lessons she created will be repeated at CASA each year, and will give children the tools they need to prevent bullying.

Aurora Alexandra Villarreal
Aurora Villarreal, of Brownsville, educated girls in her community about the effects of violence, self-defense, and how to seek help for victims of date rape and abusive relationships.  She coordinated with experts of karate, law enforcement, and support for victims of abuse to provide girls with information that will help girls to protect themselves and their friends and family.

Sara Harper
Sara Harper, of Robstown, researched, developed, and proposed to the Tuloso Midway Independent School District Board a plan for a Student Court in her high school to address concerns raised by fellow students.  She used examples from other School Courts to create a framework for a sustainable Student Court, and presented her plan for consideration and implementation.

Claire Kazen
Claire Kazen, of Laredo, created and implemented a two-week summer camp program at the Laredo Public Library to teach kids ages 5-12 about healthy eating habits and nutritional foods.  She educated kids in a fun, meaningful way to encourage them to identify beneficial food options and maintain a healthy diet.

Estefania Ramos
Estefania Ramos of Laredo implemented a two-week summer camp program at the Laredo Public Library to teach kids ages 5-12 about active living, exercising, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Her fun activities stressed the importance of physical activity daily to help kids develop healthy habits.
